Inés Martínez Pena

FPU predoctoral student of the Roche-Chus Joint Unit Cancer Modelling line.

Inés Martínez has a degree in Biology from the University of Santiago de Compostela, where she did her undergraduate practices in the Stem Cells in Cancer and Aging laboratory belonging to the Santiago de Compostela Health Research Institute (IDIS). In 2016 Inés joined the Mixed Unit for the development of her Master’s Thesis in Biomedical Research focused on the functional characterization of the “clusters” of circulating tumour cells in breast and prostate cancer. During this project he gained experience in cell culture, isolation and characterization of CTCs, use of zebrafish as a model in oncology, as well as in different in vitro functional tests.

Inés is a predoctoral student of the Cancer Modelling line of the Roche-CHUS Joint Unit, working under the supervision of Dr. Piñeiro in the study of the contribution of CTCs “clusters” to the metastasis process.
