Don’t expect Travis Kelce to hang up his clothes after this season.
The Chiefs’ star tight end appeared on the “Rich Eisen Show” on Tuesday when Eisen brought up the topic.
Kelce dismissed any idea that he was considering retiring from the NFL, telling Eisen, “It never crossed my mind in the slightest.”
“I still love going to work. I don’t dread working out,” Kelce said. “I just enjoy it so much and I’m so grateful and so lucky that I was able to get to 12th grade and still have that energy and that love and the ability to go to work.”
With Kelce back for his 12th season in the NFL and the Chiefs seeking their third consecutive Super Bowl title, the tight end has reached a new level of fame that extends beyond the football field.
Kelce is dating pop icon Taylor Swift and the couple made their relationship public in September when Swift made her first appearance at Arrowhead Stadium to watch the Chiefs star face the Chicago Bears on September 24, 2023.
The tight end caught 93 passes for 984 yards and scored five touchdowns the year he was selected to the Pro Bowl.
“I think the excitement of the challenge of this year, of being able to do it maybe a third time in a row – I think that alone was all I needed. That was a spontaneous thought, so there really wasn’t a chance I wouldn’t be back this year,” Kelce said.
Kelce described the opportunity to win the Chiefs’ third straight game as a “once in a lifetime” opportunity.
The possible third consecutive win would be the first time in NFL history that a team wins three championships in a row.
The Chiefs begin their title defense on Thursday when they face the Ravens at Arrowhead Stadium.
