On the way out
Half a dozen games will be leaving the oven known as Xbox Game Pass later this month. Microsoft has announced that six titles will be leaving the subscription service on September 15, led by Payday 3 and FIFA 23.
The football game marks the end of an era, as FIFA 23 is the last entry in the series to use the name. Now, the franchise has been renamed EA Sports FC. Last year’s game, EA Sports FC 24, will continue to be available on Game Pass even after FIFA 23’s release later this month.
Payday 3, on the other hand, had an infamous launch about a year ago with severe server issues and other design problems that resulted in Payday 2 remaining the far more popular game. The launch was so poor that Starbreeze CEO Tobias Sjogren was replaced. For more, check out GameSpot’s review of Payday 3.
These two games will be leaving Game Pass along with four others – Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation, Slime Rancher 2, SpiderHeck, and You Suck at Parking. Remember, Game Pass subscribers can purchase all of these titles at 20% off until it ends in mid-September.
As usual, Microsoft will also be adding new titles to Game Pass. Star Trucker, for example, is coming to the service today as a day-one release. Ages of Mythology: Retold will be added to Game Pass tomorrow, September 4, followed by Expeditions: A MudRunner Game, Riders Republic, and Train Sim World 5 later this month. More additions – and removals – to Game Pass will likely be announced later this month.
